"Dog's do speak, but only to those who know how to listen."

Meet The Team

The Dog Squad has just began its journey as a fun and happy place to learn for you and your dog!

We are based in East Yorkshire and run weekly training classes in the Hull area. Sam currently works full time in the fitness industry, but started The Dog Squad after discovering a passion for learning about dog behaviour, and helping others get the best from their four legged friends.

Sam

Trainer

My first dog Price was the reason I originally became interested in dog behaviour and training.

Price was a very large rescue dog found wandering the streets of Hull, his past was unknown. He was approximately 9 years old when he adopted me in 2004, and unknown to me at the time of adoption, he had sever people aggression and was a serial absconder. Prince had bitten and drawn blood on a number of people so sending him back to the rescue centre was not an option for me as his future would have either involved euthanasia or a life in a kennel for this mostly loving and playful boy.

To cut a long story short, I soon began learning more about dog behaviour and started to put into practice, various management strategies to enable us to live safely and happily together, which we did until he died of old age after a happy life with me and my family.

I now share my home with Mr Jack, a rescue dog who also came with his own issues including fear of other dogs resulting in reactivity, separation anxiety and a fear of heavy goods vehicles! and Harry who I adopted as a pup at 8 weeks old.

Harry

The Boss

This is Harry Aka The Boss, he is a four year old English Springer Spaniel cross Clumber/Cocker Mix.

Harry has been with me from a pup and so we have gone throught the usual puppy and adolesent phases and come out the other side with alot more experiences under our belt!

Harry suffered with a sterile abcess in his kneck at five months old which the vet didnt think he would survive, but despite all odds he pulled through and has since added the following skills to his CV:

  • Bronze Good Citizen Award

  • Grade 2 Gundog Award

  • Intermediate Flyball Dog Award

  • Worked two seasons at a local shoot

  • Has just started competing at Agility.

  • Cheif Stooge Dog

Jack

The Apprentice

Jack is a six year old Working Cocker Spaniel who has been with me since the age of two.

He came to me with various issues, but the most serious been his aggression towards other dogs.

When we first got Jack, walking on a field with other dogs in it was not an option. After years of hard work I am proud to say he is coming on brilliantly. We still have work to do but my proudest moments came with Jack last year when I was able to take him on a shoot and allow him to be off lead around other dogs, and live game, and he performed brilliantly.

Now that his dog aggression issues are under control, he is able to participate in dogs sports such as agility and Flyball, and this year he gained his official Flyball Dog Award!
